Trees up to the sky

The observation deck of the Varso Tower skyscraper at a height of 205 meters has turned green. Guests of the highest located garden in Warsaw will find shade under the crowns of a dozen mature single-necked hawthorns. These trees are among the highest planted in a building in Europe.
At the top of the Varso Tower in Warsaw, there will be two public observation decks: at a height of 205 meters and 230 meters. On the first of them, 16 single-necked hawthorns (Crataegus monogyna), i.e. densely branched deciduous trees with a spherical crown, appeared recently. Planted specimens reach up to 6 meters in height and weigh over 2 tons each.

The trees pulled in with a crane have settled on a specially prepared technical layer with aeration and irrigation, and with soil intended for planting plants. The selected species adapts well to various weather conditions and is resistant to urban air pollution.

The concept of the garden on the Varso Tower observation deck was designed by the RS Architektura Landscape studio, and the plantings were carried out by Hadart.

So far, HB Reavis has planted about 80 mature trees on Chmielna Street. Ultimately, there will be a total of 175 trees around and on the terraces of Varso Place and in the Varso Tower lobby.

Completion of the construction of Varso Tower is scheduled for spring 2022.
